Mike Schultz

Mike Schultz was born and raised in Fairmont, Minnesota, attended Bemidgi State University and received a business degree from The University of Minnesota. Most of his professional career has been in the financial services industry. He and his family moved to Boerne in 1993 from San Antonio where they had lived since 1976.

Early in his public service career, Mike served on a number of YMCA committees and was President of the San Antonio YMCA (1992-1993) which encompassed all 13 branches. He served on many church committees which led to three different master planning and building projects accounting for millions of dollars of construction. He served 5 years on the Boerne Independent School District Board with 2 terms as President and 2 years as a member of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).

Mike is co-founder of LeaderSteps, a program for Boerne ISD seniors which is still in existence today. He served as a board member of the Christian Job Corp of Kendall County and as Chairman of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce Board. Governor Rick Perry appointed him to serve on the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA) Board of Directors from 2000-2003.

Mike continued his volunteer public service as Mayor of Boerne, being elected in May of 2011 and holding 4 terms ending in May of 2019. Mike served as a valued member of the Sonora Bank executive leadership team. He was the Executive Vice President of First Sonora Bancshares and the Chief Operating Officer(COO) ofSonora Bank. Mike retired from Sonora Bank in March of 2020 and has since served as a consultant to Sonora Bank since April 2020.

Mike became a licensed realtor/broker in Colorado in 2003. When he and his wife Carol returned to Boerne in 2007, he obtained his Texas real estate license and after his retirement from Sonora Bank, they formed Hill Country Home and Land LLC in 2021. Mike and Carol have 3 children. Mitch lives in Austin working in the film industry, Matt was in the real estate business and passed in 2011 and Meghan is a veterinarian living in Boerne with husband Jason and grandchildren, Mattelyn and Hunter.
