Mike Schultz has spent most of his professional career in the financial services industry. He and his family moved to Boerne in 1993 from San Antonio where they had lived since 1976. Early in his public service career, he served on a number of YMCA committees and was President of the San Antonio YMCA encompassing all 13 branches in 1992/93. He served 5 years on the Boerne Independent School District Board with 2 terms as President and 2 years on The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). Mike is a co-founder of LeaderSteps, a program for seniors at Boerne ISD which is still in existence today. He has served as a board member of the Christian Job Corp of Kendall County and as Chairman of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce board. Governor Rick Perry appointed him to serve on the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA) Board Board of Directors.
Mike served as a valued member of the Sonora Bank executive leadership team. He was the Executive Vice President of First Sonora Bancshares and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sonora Bank. Mike retired from Sonora bank in September 2019. Mike Schultz continued his volunteer public service as Boerne’s mayor - being elected in May of 2011 and held 4 terms ending May of 2019.
Mike started his real estate career in 2003 in Colorado. When he and his wife Carol moved back to Boerne in 2007, he obtained his Texas license. After his retirement from the bank, he and Carol formed the “Schultz Team” and opened their own brokerage, Hill Country Home and Land.
Mike and Carol have 3 children. Mitch lives in Austin and is in the film business, Matt was in the real estate business and now lives in heaven, and Meghan lives in Boerne, is a veterinarian and has given us 2 wonderful grandchildren.
